FAQ on our Webhosting Servers

The servers which Amnet employ for webhosting have a 99.9% uptime.

How long has the webhosting company been in business?
The server provider has been in business since 2002.

How many clients do they have?
The server provider has over 300,000 clients.

How many servers do they have?
The server provider has over 2,000 servers.

What operating system is used on these servers?
The server provider uses Linux Redhat 9.

What is the % utilization of the servers?
The server provider sells its servers to 80% capacity.

What is the reliability rate?
The server provider has a 99.9% uptime guarantee.

What is the tech support response time for the company?
The server provider is manned 24/7/365. Level One support is handled over the phone or online via live chat by Amnet.

What is the backup policy (i.e., frequency, full vs. partial, etc)?
The server provider handles backups once a week, on Sundays. They are equipped with RAID1. If you edit your own website, Amnet backs it up once a month, at the beginning of the month.

Where are backups stored?
The server provider has a weekly offsite backup. Amnet’s backups are stored onsite (Colorado Springs) and additionally have an offsite copy with DataPreserve.

Who has physical access to the servers?
Only employees of "The Planet" in Dallas, TX. It's the largest data center in the world next to privately-owned IBM; it has been in business for appx. eleven years now.

Who has indirect (i.e., remote access, FTP, etc.) to the servers?
Only clients (and Amnet) have indirect access (so obviously don't share your username/password).

Will clients share a server with other companies? If so, who?
Yes; clients would share a server with whomever was next in the queue for server space. If this is a
problem, there are web service plans offered for dedicated servers. Please contact Amnet for more
information.

How will clients data on the server be encrypted?
It is not encrypted.

What kind of liability insurance does the webhosting company have?
The server provider is not required to carry liability insurance, therefore they have none.
